TPC 2009 Top Pitching Prospects: 1-5

It's here! The final installation in the TPC 2009 top pitching prospects countdown is finally finished. We've covered 6 through 10, 11 through 15, and 16 through 20, but I saved the best (and probably the most surprising) for last.  It's similar to other lists I've seen, but also very different in a few ways.  I'm going to write a follow-up post soon to discuss some of the players that missed the cut, as well as why certain players got ranked a certain way.  Let me know what you think, and feel free to ask questions.  While at present this list may seem radical to some, I think in time it will prove to be very accurate.

Like I said, I'll have a follow up post coming out soon to address some of the players left off the list, as well as some charts and comparisons to justify my rankings.

IMHO, I don't like your list :)

I think Hanson not being on your list is an injustice! Get out of the state of GA NOW! LOL

On a more serious note, I think you make some interesting points but I just can't follow your rationale for a few reason.

Well, mainly you seem to value experience against higher level of talent more than the ceiling of the pitchers. I think Anderson will be a great pitcher but ranking him ahead of David Price is going to hard to justify.

Lastly, I do not think that David Price is the 4th best LHP in the MiLB. My ranking would be Price, Anderson / Cecil, and MadBum

Can't wait to read your next post

Hey James,

I knew some Braves fans wouldn't like the list, but I'm working on a post to explain the absence of Hanson.

As for Price, there are a lot of people who would put him at #1. While there are lots of reasons to put him in at the top spot, I'll address my reasons for his ranking on my list.

Thanks for the input.
