Baseball Prospectus released their Marlins Top 11 prospects today, and it looks like a grab bag of could-be's and probably-won't's. Cameron Maybin of course tops the list as a 5-star prospect, with Chris Volstad coming in at #2 as a 4-star. After that there's a handful of 3-star prospects, including Matt Dominguez and Brett Sinkbeil, and Chris Coghlan leads off the 2-star list. With the rising cost of signing Latin American players, and the record contracts being signed by recent draftees, it's only rational that the Marlins will have to start spending money on something. It seems like the Marlins usually know what they're doing when it comes to finding and developing young talent, so I won't write them off just yet, but that's a very shallow talent pool.
