Ryan Howard Charity Fund: Feed the Big Man, Keep Him Happy

Apparently the Phillies are preparing to short change first baseman Ryan Howard for several more years. After keeping him in the minors for about three too many years, the Phillies are now refusing to pay Howard his true market value, taking him to arbitration and offering a measly $7 million for 2008. With guys like A-Rod pulling in over $20 million, and considering that Howard is in the prime of his career, I think $7 million is an insult. Heck, James Shields just signed a 7 year, $44 million contract with the Rays, so why can't the Phillies loosen up and keep their slugger happy? Doesn't make sense to me. I think Phillies fans should start up a website and start raising money to off-set the bad mojo that management is creating.

There's a really good article written about the whole subject if you're interested.
